Medicaid managed care in New Mexico associated with decreased vaccination rates

Contrary to expectation, the implementation of Medicaid managed care in New Mexico was associated with significantly decreased immunization coverage for the 4:3:1 childhood vaccination series, data from the National Immunization Survey show.

The 4:3:1 series refers to the four diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and pertussis (DTP) vaccines, three oral polio vaccines, and one measles-mumps-rubella vaccine recommended for childhood immunization.
