Two patents awarded for applications of electroporation therapy

Genetronics Biomedical Corp. (GEB), a company focused on the electroporation-enhanced delivery of drugs, DNA vaccines, and gene therapies intended to treat cancer, infectious diseases, and other medical conditions, has been granted two U.S. patents.

U.S. patent no. 6,748,265, entitled, "Electrode apparatus and method for the delivery of drugs and genes into tissue," advances the company's transsurface drug and gene-delivery technology and provides additional proprietary rights for an apparatus and method to deliver genes, drugs, and other molecules through tissue surfaces, including skin, for therapeutic or cosmetic purposes.
