Patent issued for Enterococcus antigens and vaccines

Nabi Biopharmaceuticals (NABI) has been granted U.S. Patent No. 6,756,361 entitled "Enterococcus Antigens and Vaccines" by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent covers the composition of multiple Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium capsular polysaccharide antigens (Enterococcus antigens), which have been shown to induce serotype-specific protective immunity against multi-drug resistant enterococcal species. The indicated polysaccharides cover more than 85% of all enterococcal infection isolates from hospitals across the United States.
