Company announces new, speedy gene detection method

Roche scientists announced a new computational method to detect disease-causing genes in the Oct. 22 issue of Science.

According to the announcement, this approach may accelerate the discovery of genetic risk factors in mice for human disease. The new approach enables researchers to identify a single causative genetic factor by correlating a pattern of observable physiological or pathological differences among selected strains of mice with a pattern of genomic variation.
