Wisconsin lifts flu shot restrictions

State health officials lifted all restrictions on flu shots December 28, 2004, saying hospitals and clinics have served most of the neediest people and still have 135,000 doses available statewide.

State officials issued an order in October limiting flu shots to people 65 and older, infants and toddlers and people with chronic health conditions.

The order came as the nation grappled with a flu vaccine shortage. Great Britain-based manufacturer Chiron, which provided the United States with half its vaccine doses, had contamination problems at its plants.
