FDA grants orphan-drug status to small-molecule drug candidate arimoclomol

CytRx Corp. (CYTR), a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the development and commercialization of human therapeutics primarily in the area of small molecules and ribonucleic acid interference, announced that the Office of Orphan Products Development of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted orphan drug status designation to the company's lead small-molecule drug candidate, arimoclomol, for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
