Results presented on investigational West Nile virus vaccine

Acambis plc (ACM, ACAM) announced that Thomas Monath, MD, chief scientific officer of Acambis, presented the results of a phase I clinical trial of the company's West Nile virus vaccine candidate, ChimeriVax-West Nile, at the National Foundation for Infectious Disease's (NFID) 8th Annual Conference on Vaccine Research.

The meeting was held at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. Since emerging in the United States in 1999, West Nile virus has caused more than 16,000 cases of West Nile disease and 634 deaths.
