According to a study from Japan, "Polyomavirus JC virus (JCV) is the causative agent of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy, a fatal demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Similar to other polyomaviruses, such as simian vacuolating virus 40 (SV40) and BK virus (BKV), JCV is also associated with human tumors."
