Researchers' data from the United States and Netherlands advance vaccines research

Data on vaccines are outlined in reports from the United States and Netherlands.

Study 1: Contraindications keep public health workers from obtaining smallpox vaccination.

According to recent research from the United States, "By October 24, 2003, 38,577 of 500,000 targeted civilians received smallpox vaccine in the Pre-Event Smallpox Vaccination Campaign, Phase I. We investigated reasons for the low vaccination uptake."

"We surveyed 225 health care personnel, potential members of smallpox response teams in Virginia, who were offered vaccination," said Marthe Bryant-Genevier and colleagues at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration....
