Vical Interim Clinical Results Demonstrate Safety and Tolerability of Inovio Biomedical's Electroporation DNA Delivery Technology

Inovio Biomedical Corporation (AMEX:INO), focused on the development of DNA vaccines for cancers and infectious diseases and a novel alternative to surgery to treat localized cancers, announced that the company's partner, Vical Incorporated, presented positive interim safety and tolerability data on 18 subjects from an ongoing Phase I clinical trial using Inovio's electroporation technology for intratumoral delivery into melanoma tumors of plasmid DNA (pDNA) encoding interleukin-2 (IL-2). The treatment demonstrated objective tumor responses in treated and untreated lesions.
