Moffitt Studies the Effects of the Immune System on Cancer

The immune system is important for control of tumor development and progression. Unfortunately, cancer has many different ways to weaken it. Doctors at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute are studying how a compromised immune system affects the development and progression of tumors as well as treatment options. The research findings of Dr. Dmitry Gabrilovich, leader of the dendritic cell biology division in the immunology program at Moffitt, appear in the current issue of Nature Medicine journal.
