Research on abscess detailed by scientists at National Taiwan University, Department of Microbiology

July 9th, 2008

New investigation results, 'Serum-induced iron-acquisition systems and TonB contribute to virulence in Klebsiella pneumoniae causing primary pyogenic liver abscess,' are detailed in a study published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases. "Klebsiella pneumoniae has become the predominant pathogen causing primary pyogenic liver abscess (PLA). K. pneumoniae was stimulated by human serum, and gene expression was analyzed by microarray.
