New immunization research reported from University of Alabama

Current study results from the report, 'Pneumococcal vaccination in older adults induces antibodies with low opsonic capacity and reduced antibody potency,' have been published. According to a study from the United States, "The primary mode of prevention of adult disease from Streptococcus pneumoniae is vaccination with anti-capsular polysaccharide vaccine; however, its effects are less in the targeted older population than in young persons. Few studies have examined the mechanism behind this limited effectiveness."
