"Any future development of effective vaccines against intestinal parasitic nematodes requires in-depth understanding of host-parasite interactions," researchers in Cape Town, South Africa report.

"In this issue, McCoy et al. (2008) demonstrate important protective roles for host antibody against parasitic nematodes," wrote W.G.C. Horsnell and colleagues.

The researchers concluded: "These findings are not only of great practical importance, but also highlight how little we understand these important pathogens."
