New DNA vaccines study results reported from Wuhan University, College of Life Sciences

Current study results from the report, 'Immunization with plasmid DNA encoding influenza A virus nucleoprotein fused to a tissue plasminogen activator signal sequence elicits strong immune responses and protection against H5N1 challenge in mice,' have been published. "DNA vaccination is an effective means of eliciting both humoral and cellular immunity. Most of influenza vaccines targeted at hemagglutinin (HA) show efficient immunogenicity for protecting subjects against influenza virus infection," scientists in Wuhan, People's Republic of China report. "However, major antigenic variations of HA may facilitate the virus in developing resistance against such vaccines....
