Research reports from J.H. Song and co-authors provide new insights into pneumococcal disease

According to a study from Seoul, South Korea, "We investigated the change in clones and serotypes; of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates in a Korean tertiary-care hospital. Serotypes of S. pneumoniae isolates were determined by the capsular quellung method, and in vitro susceptibility testing was performed by broth microdilution method. Multilocus sequence typing was performed to determine the genotypes of the S. pneumoniae isolates, The erm(B) using the duplex polymerase chain reaction method."
