Study Shows Pentacel® Combination Vaccine Provides Safety and Antibody Responses Comparable to Individually Administered US-licensed Vaccines

Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccines division of sanofi-aventis Group (EURONEXT : SAN and NYSE : SNY), announced the results of a study published in a recent issue of the journal Pediatrics found that Pentacel® (Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids and Acellular Pertussis Adsorbed, Inactivated Poliovirus and Haemophilus b Conjugate [Tetanus Toxoid Conjugate] Vaccine), a five-in-one pediatric combination vaccine, provides antibody responses comparable to that offered by separately administered US-licensed vaccines. The results of this study are important for health-care providers and parents, as the use of combination vaccines has been shown to improve coverage rates and timeliness of vaccination....
