Akorn Reports Second Quarter 2009 Financial Results

Akorn, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKRX) a specialty pharmaceutical company, reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009.

Total revenue for the second quarter 2009 was $16.3 million, versus $21.2 million in the second quarter 2008, representing a decrease of approximately 23%. The revenue decrease was across all segments with the exception of contract manufacturing. Td vaccine revenue decreased $2.2 million or 22% and ophthalmics and hospital drugs & injectables revenue decreased $2.8 million or 31% compared with the prior year period.
