Studies from University Medical Center provide new data on herpes zoster

A new study, 'Varicella-zoster virus neurotropism in SCID mouse-human dorsal root ganglia xenografts,' is now available. "Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) is a neurotropic human alphaherpesvirus and the causative agent of varicella and herpes zoster. VZV reactivation from latency in sensory nerve ganglia is a direct consequence of VZV neurotropism," scientists writing in the journal Current Topics In Microbiology and Immunology report.
