New Findings Reported from A. Kowada and Co-Authors Describe Advances in Tuberculosis

2012 FEB 22 -- "Currently, an annual chest X-ray examination (CXR) for detection of active tuberculosis (TB) in employees aged >= 40 years is recommended in the guidelines of the Japan Industrial Safety and Health Law. Interferon-gamma release assays are new alternatives to the tuberculin skin test for detecting Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, with higher specificity than the tuberculin skin test and without cross-reactivity with the Bacille Calmette-Guerin vaccine," researchers in Tokyo, Japan report.
