2012 APR 4 -- Investigators discuss in "Potential of carbohydrate-binding agents as therapeutics against enveloped viruses" new findings in HIV/AIDS. According to the authors of recent research from Leuven, Belgium, "Twenty-seven years after the discovery of HIV as the cause of AIDS more than 25 drugs directed against four different viral targets (i.e. reverse transcriptase, protease, integrase, envelope gp41) and one cellular target (i.e. CCR5 co-receptor) are available for treatment."
