Hepatitis B Disease May Soon Be Eradicated

A combination of vaccines and therapies that already exist could eradicate hepatitis B virus disease within three decades, according to a noted hepatitis researcher.

"I think we can go out on a limb and say there is a pretty good chance that we may be able to eradicate this major worldwide cause of death within the next 30 to 50 years," Nathaniel A. Brown of Glaxo Wellcome, Inc (Research Triangle Park, NC) said in a presentation to the IBC Fourth Annual International Industry Congress on Hepatitis, held January 22-23, 1998 in Washington, D.C.
