Chronic HCV infection risks for steatosis and progression of fibrosis clarified

Recent research from the United States reported on the clarification of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection risks for steatosis and progression of fibrosis.

"Hepatic steatosis is common in patients with CHC and is reported to be a risk factor for progression of fibrosis. The aims of this study were to evaluate the interactions between hepatic steatosis and fibrosis in a well-defined cohort of patients with CHC," wrote P. Perumalswami and colleagues, U.S. National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases.
