Research on hepatitis B virus immunology detailed by scientists at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Department of Gastroenterology

New investigation results, "Liver injury is associated with enhanced regulatory T-cell activity in patients with chronic hepatitis B," are detailed in a study published in Journal of Viral Hepatitis. "Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is associated with impairment of HBV-specific immune responses. Recently, it has been shown that regulatory T (Treg) cells downregulate HBV-specific immune responses but their role in chronic hepatitis B is still controversial," scientists writing in the Journal of Viral Hepatitis report.
