Recent findings in HIV/AIDS pathogenesis provide new insights

HIV/AIDS pathogenesis research advances have been reported from the United States and South Africa. Study 1: Cytotoxic T lymphocytes can kill, on average, 0.7 to 3 HIV-infected target cells per day. "The antiviral role of CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection is poorly understood.
