Infants exposed to antiretroviral therapy in utero have persistantly altered hematology parameters

Infants of HIV-1-positive mothers and who were exposed to antiretroviral therapy in utero were reported to have persistantly altered hematology parameters. In a recent article published in the journal Acta Paediatrica, scientists in England conducted a study "To investigate hematological parameters in infants born to HIV-1-infected mothers and exposed to combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) used to prevent mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). "A 2-y single-center follow-up study performed in 109 infants born to HIV-1-positive mothers.
