The incidence of metabolic syndrome in older and middle-aged women is inversely related to calcium and vitamin D intake. Researchers in the United States conducted a study "to examine whether and to what extent intakes of calcium and vitamin D are related to the metabolic syndrome in middle-aged or older women."
