Kettering University awards Honorary Doctor of Management to Marissa Peterson

Marissa T. Peterson was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Management degree by Kettering University during Convocation services July 9 in Flint. Convocation is the formal opening of the new academic year. Kettering begins its 2009-10 school year Monday, July 13.

Peterson, who lives in Fremont, Calif., retired as the executive vice president for Sun Microsystems, Inc., of Palo Alto, Calif., in 2006. She originally joined Sun in 1988 as a commodity manager and held several increasingly responsible positions including chief customer advocate and executive vice president, Worldwide Operations.
