Policy in U.S. Not Sensible or Cost-Effective

The United States has a lot to learn from Sweden when it comes to breast cancer screening, according to a University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)/Mount Zion breast cancer specialist.

"If we applied just some of the lessons learned by carefully examining Sweden's approach, the United States could significantly improve its breast cancer screening program, save lives and save money," said Laura Esserman, M.D., M.B.A., co-director of the UCSF/Mount Zion Breast Care Center and UCSF associate professor of surgery.
