Relationship of Endogenous Estrogens and Breast Cancer in Postmenopausal Women

Breast cancer is two to four times more likely to develop in women who have high levels of natural estrogen, New York University (NYU) School of Medicine researchers report.

A study was done by New York researchers to assess breast cancer risk in relation to circulating levels of the two major endogenous estrogens, estradiol and estrone, in postmenopausal women before clinical disease onset ("A Prospective Study of Endogenous Estrogens and Breast Cancer in Postmenopausal Women," Journal of the National Cancer Institute, February 1, 1995;87(3):190-7).
