Gender Differences in HIV-Associated Symptoms, Laboratory Markers, and Drop-Out Rates for Men and Women Enrolled in a Clinical Trial of Antiretroviral Therapy

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the conference on HIV Infection in Women: Setting a New Agenda, held February 22-24, 1995, in Washington, D.C., "Background: There is limited information on the natural history of HIV infection, drug efficacy, toxicity, or clinical manifestations in women. Methods: We analyzed the baseline characteristics and drop out rates for men and women enrolled into ACTG 175, a randomized, placebo controlled, trial comparing monotherapy with combination nucleoside analog therapy.
