According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the conference on HIV Infection in Women: Setting a New Agenda, held February 22-24, 1995, in Washington, D.C., "Objectives: To compare the proportions of oral mucosal lesions in HIV-infected women and men after controlling for the level of immunosuppression. Methods: As part of two 4-year prospective cohort studies (Projects AWARE and SFGH-IDU) we conducted oral examinations on community-based samples of HIV-infected women (n=125) and men (n=115).
