Caesarean Section Associated with Increased Nosocomial Infections

Researchers say the estimated rate of post-caesarean infection in women is 10 times greater than after vaginal delivery.

Canadian researchers, E. Henderson and E.J. Love, from the University of Calgary, reported the results of a retrospective cohort study of women who delivered via caesarean section (C-section) at the Calgary General Hospital ("Incidence of Hospital-Acquired Infections Associated with Caesarean Section," Journal of Hospital Infection, April 1995;29(4):245-55).
