Nuclear Scans Predict Increased Morbidity In Women

More powerful nuclear scans make it possible for doctors to accurately predict which women are at risk of dying of heart disease within one or two years, scientists said.

The information should help doctors decide which women should undergo surgery or other procedures to help them live longer, scientists from three major research institutions reported June 14, 1995.

The researchers, who attending the annual meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota, said they have been testing scans that rely on newly developed radioactive probes and devices.
