Method Reduces Postoperative Pain

A local anaesthetic applied to the clips used for tubal sterilization provides a safe, non-invasive and effective method of reducing postoperative pain after laparoscopic tubal sterilization.

Laparoscopic tubal sterilization with bands, ties or clips causes more pain than tubal occlusion with electrocoagulation. In spite of the increased postoperative pain that often delays patient discharge or return to normal activity, these mechanical methods have greater advantages over electrocoagulation methods.
