Drug Therapy for Bacterial Vaginosis Reduced to Once a Day

Curatek Pharmaceuticals announced August 14, 1995 that results of a large-scale, multicenter clinical trial have demonstrated that once-a-day dosing of MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole vaginal gel, 0.75%) yields equivalent efficacy to the twice-a-day dosing previously recommended for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis (BV). "This study should significantly increase the convenience to the patient by eliminating the morning dose recommended in the past," said Dr. Robert Borgman, president of Curatek. The company plans to submit the study results to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to request formal change in the recommended dosing schedule...
