Understanding of the p53 Gene's Role in Cancer

Results of a new study may help define which breast cancer patients will have improved relapse-free and overall survival following radiation therapy for breast cancer.

Contrary to the authors' expectations, the study showed that radiation therapy in certain patients can induce cell death even in the presence of p53 mutations.

Much research has been conducted and recently reported on the potential role of the p53 gene in the development of human cancers, especially in breast cancer.
