Experimental Treatments Offer Hope

The March 1996 issue of Arthritis Today, the Arthritis Foundation's national consumer magazine, offers hope that treatments currently being studied for osteoarthritis (OA) one day may slow, halt or reverse the effects of the disease.

Any damage to cartilage, the tough, shock-absorbing material that covers the ends of our bones, eventually may leave bone contacting bone, which results in OA, a painful condition that affects an estimated 15.8 million Americans.
