Gender Differences in Left Ventricular Mass and Geometry: The Joint Influences of Obesity and Hypertension

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 36th Annual Conference on Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention, held March 13-16, 1996, in San Francisco, California, "Left Ventricular Mass (LVM) is a significant independent predictor of cardiovascular risk. We assessed gender differences in the relations of obesity (Ob; BMI>27.8 in men and >27.3g/m2 in women) and hypertension (Ht; SBP>159 and/or DBP>94mmHg) with LVM.
