Immigrant Asian Women Not Receiving Adequate Cancer Screening

Southeast Asian women who immigrate to this country do not receive adequate screening for breast and cervical cancer, a team of Chicago investigators report.

Reasons cited include that:

the services are not directly targeted to these minorities;

the women do not understand the purpose of the services.

Dr. Miriam Rodin described the findings from a collaborative study between Northwestern University and the Chicago Institute on Urban Poverty/Heartland Alliance.
