Proven Therapies Not Optimized In Heart Failure Patients

Canadian researchers studying congestive heart failure in hospitalized patients report that mortality risk ("all-cause") is high in women and elderly patients; they address a need for increased use of proven therapies.

The multicenter Clinical Quality Improvement Network Investigators report in the August 12/26, 1996 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine (Arch Intern Med 1996;156:1669-1673) on their analysis of records of more than 4,600 hospitalized patients with congestive heart failure.
