Many Factors Influence Choice and Use of Barrier Methods

"There are two reasons why barrier methods are of particular importance in the United States today. First, for some people in certain situational contexts, they are the best and most effective methods available or the only methods available. Second, barrier methods are the only methods that prevent or lower the probability of transmission of [HIV] and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)."
