Protective Immunity to T. vaginalis in a Mouse Model of Vaginal Infection

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 36th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), held in New Orleans, Louisiana, September 15-18, 1996, "Trichomonas vaginalis [TV] is the most frequently encountered sexually transmitted disease worldwide with impact on women by causing severe vaginitis, premature rupture of membranes and increases the risk of HIV acquisition. We studied the protective effect of subcutaneous immunization with T. vaginalis using a well characterized mouse model of vaginal infection. Balb/c mice were immunized with doses of T. vaginalis (4.5x105, 9x106, 1x108)...
