Sexually Transmitted Disease (Increased Risk)

Sterilized Women and Users of the Pill at Higher Risk

Women who are sterilized surgically or who use oral contraceptives may be well-protected against pregnancy, but may be at increased risk of HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

These findings were reported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the September 27, 1996, issue of Mortality and Morbidity Weekly Report.
