Oral Estrogen May Protect Against Hip Osteoarthritis

Elderly women who currently are taking oral estrogen may have a lower risk of developing hip osteoarthritis (OA) than women who have never used estrogen, according to an article in the October 14, 1996, issue of Archives of Internal Medicine. Current use and use for longer than 10 years provides greatest protection.

The study was presented September 29, 1996 at the American Medical Association's 15th Annual Science Reporters Conference held in San Francisco, California.
