According to a new study reported in the October 1996 issue of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, HRT may work by cutting blood levels of Lp(a), the latest cholesterol-carrying protein to be recognized as a potential contributor to heart disease risk.
Two popular HRT regimens "drastically" decreased concentrations of lipoprotein (a), or Lp(a), in a study of 120 post-menopausal women, Finnish scientists report.
