Judge May Have To Step Down Because of Wife's Breast Implants

A federal judge presiding over dozens of breast implant cases may have a potential conflict of interest: his wife had breast implants following a mastectomy in 1977.

Lawyers representing one of the women who have sued implant manufacturers argued that U.S. District Judge Robert E. Jones should step down from all implant cases because his wife could financially benefit from a class-action settlement or future individual claim.

The lawyers also want overturned Jones' recent ruling that insufficient scientific evidence exists to prove silicone implants cause disease.
