Governor's Wife Heads Program to Help Women on Health Issues

Illinois first lady Brenda Edgar will lead a new program to help women with their distinctive health needs under a plan which was unveiled January 22, 1997, in Gov. Jim Edgar's State of the State address.

The program includes a public awareness campaign and a toll-free number for women to get referrals to agencies, doctors, and experts for answers to their health questions.

Mrs. Edgar modeled the project after her successful "Help Me Grow" program, which encourages proper care for children through prevention and early diagnosis of health problems.
