The Ovarex vaccine, which has been undergoing Phase II/III clinical trials in Canada and Europe, is based on the concept of Anti-idiotype Induction Therapy (AIT) which allows the patient's own body to fight cancer through the enhancement of the body's immune system against the cancer cells. For a seven year period, orphan drug status provides a protected market for an approved product whereby no approval will be given to a subsequent sponsor of the same drug product for the same disease...
