"Two months is a very long time for millions of women not to have mammograms," Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., told Donna Shalala, secretary of health and human services.
Specter, chairman of the Senate Appropriations subcommittee that controls funds for health, also said he would like to see Congress take action on the issue. The Senate last month urged women to ignore the scientific disagreement and get mammograms in their 40s.
